Welcome to a very special page here at www.savetheboxers.com! Meet the Legacy "Keepers!"

Keepers are a very special part of LBR, and we have decided that they need a place to shine on our website. What is a "Keeper" you ask? A "Keeper" is a boxer that has found a new lease on life through LBR, but is not readily available for adoption, for whatever reason, be it age, infirmity, disease, or behavioral issues. These boxers are considered to be in "hospice" care, and will be loved and cared for until the end.

Hospice is a philosophy of care. The hospice philosophy or viewpoint accepts death as the final stage of life. The goal of hospice is to enable these boxers, mostly senior dogs, to continue an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by people who love them. Hospice affirms life and does not hasten or postpone death. Hospice care treats the dog rather than the disease; it focuses on quality rather than quantity of life.
